Education for West Africa has set up a student sponsorship program that involves both individuals and groups. It is called Promoting Students Education and is designed for students who live on the North Bank and have excelled in their studies, but are unable to afford further education. All funds given are used to pay students tuition, book fees, uniform expense and rice for the family. There are two areas of sponsorship.
1. Preschool - grade 6
Cost: $15 per month ($180 per year)
2. Grade 7 - 12
Cost: $15 per month ($180 per year)
3. College and Technical studies
Cost: $25 per month ($300 per year)
During the 2004-2005 school year Education for West Africa was able to sponsor 58 students through the Promoting Students Education program. Seven of the students were able to attend the Gambia Technical Institute for engineering studies.
